Barcelona record 28 unbeaten run

Barcelona's unbeaten run extended to a club record 28 games as a hard-fought 2-0 win at Levante Sunday left the defending champion three points clear in La Liga. Barca has not lost since a 2-1 defeat to Sevilla on October 23, its run comprising of 23 wins and five draws, claiming the Club World Cup, reaching the last 16 of its defense of the Champions League and a commanding position in the league, with a game in hand over second-placed Atletico Madrid.  Arch-rival Real Madrid later cut its deficit in third to four points with a 2-1 win at Granada, but its 4-0 defeat in El Clasico was another highlight of Barcelona's relentless run.

Zidane praise Ronaldo for his display against Bilbao

The French coach moved the Portuguese attacker from the centre to the flank for Saturday's match against Athletic and feels the change worked well as they went on to win 4-2. Zinedine Zidane feels Cristiano Ronaldo proved his worth on the wing as he scored twice in 10-man Real Madrid's 4-2 win over Athletic on Saturday. Ronaldo's double helped Madrid negotiate a difficult test against Athletic at the Santiago Bernabeu, which saw the visitors cancel out his early opener through Javier Eraso before Aritz Aduriz rattled the crossbar.
